Hale Yapıcı Eser M.D.


Dr. Hale Yapıcı Eser was born in 1984 in Istanbul. She graduated from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School in 2002 and Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2008. She completed her psychiatry residency at Gazi University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry between 2008-2013. At the same time, she completed the PhD program in Neuroscience, which she started under the MD-PHD program of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, between 2006-2013 and was awarded the title of Ph.D. Between July 2013 and September 2015, she worked as a psychiatrist at Çankırı State Hospital because of his compulsory service obligation. In 2011, she conducted short-term researches on psychiatric genetics at the Institute of Biological Psychiatry, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2012 at the Department of Psychotic Disorders at Harvard University's Mc Lean Hospital and in 2016 at the Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research at the same university. Since October 2015, she is a psychiatrist at Koç University Hospital and a faculty member at Koç University School of Medicine. She is the co-coordinator of Koç University Neuroscience Ph.D. Program, member of the board of directors of KUTTAM and the director of Koç University Psychological Counseling and Psychotherapy Center (KUPTEM). She is researching the mechanisms of stress, neurobiology and phenomenology of mood and anxiety disorders. Her main areas of interest are mood disorders, anxiety disorders and stress related disorders. She is also working on psychiatric disorders associated with neurological disorders, especially Parkinson's disease, and psychiatric disorders associated with obesity and endocrinological diseases. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy approach.
